Building upon the recently released “My Opinions” feature we’ve just added a couple of tag clouds to the Search page. What is a tag cloud? Here’s how Wikipedia defines it:

A tag cloud is a visual depiction of user-generated tags, typically used to describe the content of web sites. Tags are normally listed alphabetically, and the importance of a tag is shown with font size or color. Thus, both finding a tag by alphabet and by popularity is possible. The tags are usually hyperlinks that lead to a collection of items that are associated with a tag.

So based on the popularity of things that people like & what they dislike, we are able to generate a tag cloud for MFI. Here’s a screenshot of what the ladies of MyFreeImplants like/dislike most:

If you go to the actual page (just go to the Benefactor/Model Search page and scroll down) you can click on any of the words in the cloud which will run a search for that term to show all of the people that share that same opinion. Hopefully this will help a lot more people find more people that have similar taste to each other — or different taste if that’s your thing.

The lists are completely dynamic so as you add more items to your “My Opinions” lists, and other people also add those items, the cloud will change to reflect the most popular values in real time.

Helpful Tip: To get the most out of this feature, you should generally use common words/spellings for things. So for example: “boobs” vs. “boobies” vs. “my boobs” vs. “big boobs” are all different tags. So using the more generic version of just “boobs” will probably hold more weight as more people will have the exact same spelling as you. Similarly if you put additional characters like “~*boobs*~ !!!!! ” that too probably won’t do you much good since NO ONE ELSE is going to spell it the same way and it will then be harder for people find you as a match! ;)

Interesting. Last time I looked, only two women liked sarcasm. I guess men like it more than women do. ;)

    I’d better check again.

Are the tags case insensitive? (i.e. Sarcasm = sarcasm)

Yes, the tags are case insensitive.

Aside from case-sensitive, the opinion tags are useless because one person can write that they like lemons and another can write that they like yellow lemons and a third writes Yellow Lemons and they will all be totally different tags. It was a lazy compromise to text search profiles.

yellow lemons = Yellow Lemons (case insensitive)

I did check on the sarcasm. There appear to be nine women who enjoy sarcasm. I guess that is better than the one other woman that likes anything else I do.

    Guess I am unique. lol

Actually while yellow lemons = Yellow Lemons it seems sarcasm sarcastic people sarcazm I love sarcasm. So there could be lots more people who enjoy sarcasm but don’t express it the same way as the nine people I mentioned. Now I understand what Parker was talking about. These opinion tags are useless.

Walter is right, Joe Says: February 22, 2010 at 6:28 pm

Except his punctuation marks are missing. If they weren’t I bet he was trying to say: sarcasm is not equal to sarcastic people is not equal to sarcazm is not equal I love sarcasm. That means these opinion tags are pretty much useless because even if one person likes apples the person who likes “lots of apples” won’t be counted on the apples tag.

Wait, now I understand what Parker meant. Even though yellow lemons = Yellow Lemons as far as case insensitivity goes, what he meant was people can write these things any way they like so the nine people I found who like sarcasm might really be hundreds except instead of writing sarcasm some write I love sarcasm or sarcastic people or even sarcazm. So Parker was right, these opinion tags are pretty much useless. Even if one person likes apples the person who likes “lots of apples” won’t be counted on the apples tag.

Hey now, I thought I was the only Walter here. The J’s said so when I chose my permanent name. :)

Yes, I understand the spelling of each tag has to match to be of any use but it is slightly better than nothing.
