Yeah, that simple little $1 had affected the way I was purchasing donations. But if it was a 'loss' for the business that was somehow unknown, perhaps there will be an adjustment of things -- perhaps a slightly smaller amount could get taken out as transaction fees? Maybe. I'm sure it will take time to see what the pattern is...

"No donations go unused here."

I wish too i had saved some screen shots of this, however i use a spared sheet in Excel and i have done it in same manner as you have done. And seen also on here profile my contributions and her total go up with $1 after sending that extra free message valued $1.

I did always aim to make my donations in increments of $20. No i see no need to look for that. If i want to donate just $10 why pre buy another $10 to just get a free non monetary message? i buy it directly on her page and if i later want to donate another 410 to same lady i just do it later, which will lead to more transactions for MFI , equal more costs for MFI.

As i understand in my discussion with the managment, they see it as too complicated to have new benefactors need to understand or have to choose what mkind of message they will use if they have both types: free and paid.

The free messages i have got so far, have not used on new ladies, as i at that time was not connected with any i thought of or something like that. So i used them on other ladies who are advanced members on MFI. If they want me to really use the free message on new ladies then they need to give us more control over them. As it is now i will probably not use them towards new ladies so often, i see more areas to use them and where they come more in use than only to new ladies.

The only way to not get free messages is to have B cup membership. That is i am not interested in the games and audio/video chats. I rarely chat at all, so for me it will probably land to that direction if i see these free messages cause more problem for me and my way of using MFI. The management have even suggested a feature to be able to "dump" free messages and i rather decline to that and have the lower membership, that suits me and my way better.

@CCR - "I thought the free messages for being long time members was given to more advanced members here and not newbies?"

I believe they are referring to using those messages for new models, not giving free messages to new benefactors.

I wish I had saved screen shots but I intentionally took notes the last time I donated prior to the change.

This is what I did on February 5th, 2010:

1) I copy and pasted both the woman's totals and my total contributions before making the donation.

earnings to date: $7,545.33 (before donation)

your contributions: $639.60 (before donation)

2) I made the donation and copied and pasted the woman's totals and my total contributions.

earnings to date: $7,561.53 (after $20 donation)*

your contributions: $655.80 (after $20 donation)*

*note the totals changed by the expected $16.20 after MFI's 19 percent cut of $3.80.

3) I immediately sent the "I sent you a $20.00 donation!" and copied and pasted the totals once again.

earnings to date: $7,562.53 - after donation message*

your contributions: $656.80 - after donation message*

*note the totals indicated the "free to me" message was in fact a paid message because the totals rose $1 for both of us.

I am fairly comfortable with stating that receiving the perk of the free to me paid message credit has been going on since I joined in August 2007.

So, I will hope there will not be any rate increases here anytime soon because MFI has in fact just received one.

I hope it is understood how much this topic means to me and how much I valued that little extra incentive to spend a bit more. I highly guard my privacy about what I do here. I could have adjusted my totals but I did not want my word to be questioned. If the management of MFI wants to validate my findings, I still have my order confirmation number.

Hope this helps.

@Walter:

Thank you , Walter, fro brining it up publicly. I have been in discussion with the MFI management about this free paid message for every $20 donation. And got the answer" they have always been free (ie no monetary value). It went so far that begun to doubt what i have experienced for years about this what was added on Thanksgiving in 2006.

I do as you realize that it is margin loss for MFI. But i do not believe it was a bug.

I have also been in discussion with the MFI management about having control over free messages given us for being long time members. And this is the answer i get:

<i>"I understand the situation you describe, and I will take it into consideration. I still strongly believe that it should be as easy as possible to send messages (especially for new members) and what you are asking for does add some additional complexity. Thanks as always for taking the time to express your thoughts and concerns."</i>

Dammit! You all got to talking about it and darn it, they fixed it. I no longer get a free to me paid message when making a $20 donation. I was until recently and confirmed this fact before the change was made.

This "fix" and the fact I have no choice but to use the free credits first does not sit well with me.

Prior to today I have made it a point to make donations in multiples of $20 so I could get the additional paid message credits for free. I admit I'm a cheap SOB. I loved getting that additional dollar's worth of value out of my donations because it went directly to support my friends. Now I no longer have that luxury. So to that end, MFI may actually receive less money from me because I am less likely to round the donation up to the next $20 increment now.

Yes, I realize that extra dollar represents 5 percent where MFI would be getting $14 instead of $19 for every $100 donation but I do hope they reevaluate fixing that "bug" and come to some happy medium where the value of a larger donation would show up in the funds of the women.

Bottom line, I would rather receive the free to me paid credits for donations than a bunch of free message credits that I have no control whether or not to use them.

There is a new item in the "feedback" that addresses this problem. Hope it gets addresses soon. With all due respect (and I know this was intended to be a benefit), I feel that something got broke that didn't need fixing.

If the free messages are to encourage us to message new girls and offer advice, well thats a fine intention. However the way they're set up means we now have to burn them all as soon as they arrive so that we can get into the paid messages for adding to the goals of existing friends. Doesn't that run counter to the intent? We can't "save" them up to use for free advice or encouragment when they're actually needed. Also we can't avoid using a "free" message when we really want to respond to a friend's blog, or send a birthday greeting.
It is a decent idea, but i think needs a little more work. Having been away for a couple weeks, i didn't even know this had happened and assumed the extras were "returns". That means i've sent some "free" messages to friends i actually wanted to send a paid message. Annoying!!! Now i'm going to have to apologise!!!
