Following an attempted terrorist attack  on Christmas day, the U.S. along with several European nations have introduced the use of full body scanners in major airports. Though the body scanners are an attempted step toward heightened airport security, they do not come without controversy.

The machines, unlike conventional X-rays, have the ability to strip away layers of clothing revealing all parts of the human body as well as any prostheses such as breast implants.

Though the device is meant to detect any metallic items or plastic explosives strictly for security measures, some  fear that the “naked” images of passengers represent an unnecessary violation and may cause humiliation for many.
