Depending on where you are located in the world, some of you may be gearing up for the big New Years celebrating this evening, or some of you might already be out living up the last moments of 2009. Wherever you are, we want to wish you all a happy, safe, and productive New Year.

Most major cities around the world offer free public transportation tonight, so you should take advantage if your city is offering the complimentary ride. In Paris, the RATP, Paris’s Metro and bus service is offering free transportation from 5 pm tonight, until 12 noon tomorrow. In London, you can take the Tube for free from 11:45 pm tonight until the wee hours of  4:30 am tomorrow. The Metropolitan Transportation Authority of Los Angeles will be offering free bus and train rides between 9 pm tonight and 2 am tomorrow. In San Francisco, the Municipal Transit Agency is providing free transportation to get around the city tonight on all Muni Railway trains and buses.

If you are bringing in your New Year in New York City this evening, P. Diddy has a special gift for you. Makers of CIROC Ultra Premium Vodka and Sean “Diddy” Combs will provide thousands of New Yorkers and visitors to the city with taxicab vouchers worth up to $15 in an effort to ensure that everyone gets home safely tonight.

For the most of you who are not partaking in festivities in the aforementioned cities, check your local public transportation websites to see what free rides might be available to help you get to and from your party destination safely. Those driving this evening who may decide to have one or two celebratory champagne toasts might want to think about downloading the new iPhone application “R-U-Buzzed?” that calculates your blood alcohol content. The application features the following color-coded messages: “No hangover expected,” printed in sober gray; “You’re buzzed!” in yellow; or, in cautionary red: “Don’t even think about it!…Designate a sober driver.”

However you decide to celebrate tonight, we hope everyone has a great time, stays safe, gets that New Years kiss, fulfills resolutions, and lastly – that your hangover doesn’t destroy you tomorrow.  Here’s to a great 2009, and looking forward to new beginnings in 2010.
