The cosmetic surgery community scored a victory this past weekend as senators dropped the tax on cosmetic procedures from the US Senate’s pending health care reform bill. The tax, often called “Botax,” would have added a 5% increase on elective cosmetic procedures. Instead, the cosmetic surgery tax has been replaced with a proposed 10% tax on indoor tanning salons, which is estimated to raise $2.7 billion through 2019.

This is good news for those of you who were worried about a possible increase in the price of breast implants and other cosmetic procedures. However, for those who like to have a sunny complexion all year round – you might just have to stick with the wallet-friendly sun.
