It took Ginger about 3.5 months to raise her goal of roughly $4,500.

  1. When was your surgery?
    November 13, 2008
  2. How did you bring up MFI with your doctor?
All I asked was if they accepted third party payments the first time. Second time I told them! They were intrigued, thought it was fascinating and then VERY let down when they investigated and saw the public blogs!
  3. How did your doctor feel about MFI?
They refused payment after seeing the public blogs. I literally had to go into their office and log into my page to show them more of what it was about for me! I was glad that after hearing and seeing what I did, that they accepted the payment! (Mind you, this was just 10 days before my surgery date too)
  4. Did you doctor have you do anything pre-surgery to help make things easier?
I had to cut out all aspirin products, get pre-op meds, and arrange for a post-op caretaker! If I needed to take any OTC meds for any reason I was to call them first. Also no alcohol for at least 14 days pre-op!
  5. Did you do anything pre-surgery that was recommended on the internet or by other women?
Yes, I went out and bought Arnica tablets and started taking them 3 days before surgery. Of course I checked this out with my surgeon first! I also bought healthy snacks and made myself a “snack” pack to have next to my chair!
  6. How big are your implants and what kind are they (saline, silicon, profile, etc)?
    I got Mentor Mod-Plus profile 350 cc’s Saline! I wanted 425 cc’s but they just wouldn’t fit ?
  7. How were they implanted (over muscle, under, incision type etc)? Why did you choose that method?
I went with a crease incision under the muscle! Since I was a FLAT AA and am thin, going under the muscle would give me a chance to get more of a natural look!
  8. How did you decide how big to go and what type of implants to get?
This was the most difficult decision for me! I didn’t want to go to big but yet wanted BOOBS! I used rice sizers often and visited his office to try his on several times before surgery! I also spent hours upon hours looking at women’s pictures on the net who were my size and looked at how many cc’s they got in hopes to get an idea of what that amount would look on me!
  9. How long after surgery were you in pain?
I had my boobs, a tubal ligation and an umbilical hernia repair done at the same time! I was in a great deal of pain for a good solid week! Day 9 I finally felt human again!
  10. Did you need someone to help you with normal tasks after surgery? If so, what did they do?
Oh YES! My dad and his wife came up to stay with me for two weeks! I wouldn’t have made it without them! My sister was also with me for the first two days non stop! She is the greatest! They brought me everything I didn’t have, helped me up etc. For the first few days my sister helped me get my britches up and down to use the restroom. (more so day one and two) She also helped me shower and wash my hair! My step mom fed me drugs… food was delivered to my lap.. It was very nice!
  11. Did your doctor have any post-surgery advice that really seemed to help with your recovery and/or scar reduction?
My scars are barely visible right now. All he told me was to keep them out of the sun and hidden if I were to use a tanning bed for the first year! It’s been a year..guess that means I can sunbathe nude now ?
  12. Did you do anything else post-surgery that really helped with your recovery?
Several things I learned along the way.. Using a U shaped neck support pillow, having EVERYTHING within fingertips reach, having toilet tissue in your hand BEFORE you sit on the pot, Keeping the lids to pain meds very loose, and mostly, having someone near that was strong enough to help me up without me having to use a muscle to do so! And simply doing NOTHING. Letting my body recover without pushing myself was the best thing I did for myself! I didn’t even twist lids open to my Gatorade. Someone else did it for me!
  13. How long before you could resume normal activity?
Two months it seemed. But with the hernia repair my weight lifting limit of 10 lbs for the boobs was extended from 6 wk s to 10!
  14. What was your biggest surprise post-surgery?
The little pains I would feel after the big blow of pain directly post op! I’d get what you’d call “morning boob”! You wake up and they are stiff and sore..but after a while of being up and moving it goes away. It was very odd but normal from what I’ve read!
  15. How closely did you follow your doctor’s advice?
    100%
  16. What did you do to get your home ready for your recovery?
I made sure everything was cleaned, food was stocked esp snacks to keep by my side and that my caretaker had what they would need to be comfortable here!
  17. Anything you wish you’d done differently?
Yah..I wish I had known about the toilet paper before hand!
  18. Where there any activities that were surprisingly difficult or painful?
Getting in and out of bed or the chair! Esp first thing in the morning! Ohhh and washing my hair and shaving my armpits..VERY difficult that first two weeks at least!
  19. Was there anything you did that turned out to be surprisingly helpful?
I didn’t bruise. So I believe the Arnica helped with that! Honestly, just having someone here was the best thing I could have done for myself!
  20. How did your first “public appearance” with your new boobs go? Any advice for others?
Men love boobs… many women love them too! If I wear something revealing… There are glares.. But I got them for me..so what the public thought of them didn’t matter so much to me! I admit that when I’m in a bikini..a stare or two is nice..but when I get them the entire time I’m at a pool, it annoys me! Esp when it’s the same men staring the whole day! I have walked up to a staring man before and told him to take a really good look and get it over with!
Advice..if your girlfriends haven’t seen them yet and you make plans to go out..Be prepared to have your new girls be the talk and show of the night. Be prepared to show them in trips to the bathroom and be prepared to have them felt up!
  21. Did you find any sites with really good advice on any part of the implant process?
Yes and I will share. Its www.justbreastimplants.com It’s a site JUST for women! I love that site!!! Very helpful!
  22. Have you had any complications?
After 10 months my right side started looking funny! I have a bit of Capsular Contractor on that side. I’m now a year post op and still hoping I wont need surgical correction!
  23. Anything else you’d like to mention?
This was the BEST decision I could have made for myself! Boobs don’t make a woman..but they sure added spice to the woman I already was!

This is not medical advice. This is advice from a woman who has had implant surgery. You should also ask your doctor as every person is different and you can’t be sure that your situation is the same as anyone else’s. If you’ve had surgery and would like to answer these questions, drop me a line, I’d love to include you.

Ginger was one the first women to message me when I started MFI and her message got lost in shuffle of many but after reading a blog she posted we reconnected and have been great friends. I’m glad I get to the details of her recovery more.

Ginger i’m glad i met you on here. I had no idea what all you went through right after surgery. She’s one tough cookie that never let on exactly how much pain she was in. Still glad you tolerate me, and look forward to many more chats.

Great interview, Ginger! Thanks, too, to Drone for preparing it.

I’m sure the girls still waiting to get their implants will appreciate your advice. Wish I’d known about the toilet paper thing, too! LOL!

I also want to say thanks for your support for me while I was hitching a ride to Hooterville. Thanks so very much!

This was so honest and funny at the same time. Crazy about you logging into your account at the surgeons office and that is great advice about the toilet paper. I hope you won’t need any surgical corrections. Best of luck to you. You look great!

“I have walked up to a staring man before and told him to take a really good look and get it over with!”

Maybe instead of trying (and failing) to be discreet when I see an attractive woman, I should just assume that she will be like you! :)

    Great interview!
