First Person Surgery: Truly Denise
by Drone on November 16th, 2009
Truly Denise took just over 6 months to reach her goal of $8,500. This is a picture of her before surgery.
- When was your surgery?
June 4th 2009 - How did you bring up MFI with your doctor?
I didn’t bring it up to my Doc. I talked to the finacing director about it. I TOLD her how I was paying, I didn’t ask if it was okay. - How did your doctor feel about MFI?
I am not sure if my Doctor ever knew how I paid… but all the ladies in the office LOVED the idea of MFI! - Did you doctor have you do anything pre-surgery to help make things easier?
Not really, No OTC or anything 2 weeks before surgery. He did ask me to start taking 1000units of Vitamin E twic a day 2 weeks prior to surgery and 90 days after. Now I take 400 units of Vitamin E twice a day. - Did you do anything pre-surgery that was recommended on the internet or by other women?
No, not really… well I was told to get out of my own house for recovery, so I did do that! - How big are your implants and what kind are they (saline, silicon, profile, etc)?
I am now a 34D/DD thanks to 325cc’s filled to 360cc’s Smooth Round Moderate Profile Saline Mentor implants! YAY! - How were they implanted (over muscle, under, incision type etc)?
They are placed under the muscle. - Why did you choose that method?
They were recommended under the muscle. - How did you decide how big to go and what type of implants to get?
I just went with what my doctor thought would be best. He has done work on 5 of my girlfriends and they all look AMAZING so I know he must be doing something right. - How long after surgery were you in pain?
Pain, like REAL pain, about a week. I felt a werid pain when I moved… like when I got out of bed in the morning and such for about a month. - Did you need someone to help you with normal tasks after surgery? If so, what did they do?
OH YEAH! I needed help with EVERYTHING for about 2 weeks. I didn’t do a thing, I sat in a chair for literally 2 weeks! I didn’t lift a finger. - Did your doctor have any post-surgery advice that really seemed to help with your recovery and/or scar reduction?
My doctor did recommend something I had never even thought of for the redness in my scars, Hydrocortisone cream! It worked great! - Did you do anything else post-surgery that really helped with your recovery?
I just took my vitamin E and relaxed. I didn’t push myself and I had a GREAT support system of friends and family to help. - How long before you could resume normal activity?
I couldn’t lift over 10 lbs. for 6 weeks. That was hard! Then it took me a bit to get my energy back. I started to really feel like myself again after 10 weeks. - What was your biggest surprise post-surgery?
My biggest suprise had to be the werid pain getting in and out of bed! I know you aren’t supposed to lay flat for a couple of weeks but it took awhile for me to not feel pain laying flat and getting up. Another shock was how much the doctor didn’t want me to move! I was putting on my jacket post-op and he said it was to much to be doing! - How closely did you follow your doctor’s advice?
I followed his advice 100%! There was no way I was going to risk messing something up! ha! - What did you do to get your home ready for your recovery?
I went to someone elses home! That was the best thing I could do. I couldn’t worry about the mess at my house. - Anything you wish you’d done differently?
Not a thing! I am so very happy! - Where there any activities that were surprisingly difficult or painful?
Just getting in and out of bed. Right after surgery, though, I was suprised by how painful sitting down and getting up was. - Was there anything you did that turned out to be surprisingly helpful?
Getting out of my own house! hahaha… I had someone to do EVERYTHING for me 24/7 for 2 weeks. I even had someone waking me up at 4:00 A.M. to help me take my meds! - How did your first “public appearance” with your new boobs go? Any advice for others?
There were lots of looky loos… and lots of free drinks! ha! I think my boobies have paid for themselves in free drinks! My advice… SEXY TOPS! - Did you find any sites with really good advice on any part of the implant process?
I wasn’t really looking at other sites for advice. If I had a question I called my doctor or one of my girlfriends. - Have you had any complications?
No complications at all. I even shocked myself I have done so well. - Anything else you’d like to mention?
I just want to let everyone know how important it is to take it easy! Don’t push it… I know it’s hard for all the mommys out there but the best thing to do is get out of your house and away from your family. I can’t tell you how many ladies have issues post-op because they have so much to do at home. NO HOUSE WORK! I just hate to see all the hard work gone to waste because of house work. No dishes, vacuuming, sweeping, dusting, picking up toys, laundry… no any of that… trust me, it will wait for you to get better ; )
And this, obviously is an after shot.
This is not medical advice. This is advice from a woman who has had implant surgery. You should also ask your doctor as every person is different and you can’t be sure tht your situation is the same as anyone elses. If you’ve had surgery and would like to answer these questions, drop me a line, I’d love to include you.

If I wasn’t so drunk and fat, I could write pages and pages of positively wonderful things about Truly Denise! He-he and LOL. Denise has been a fabulous friend from the first day we connected. Absolutely the coolest MFI girl ever.
