- When was your surgery?
September 9, 2008 - How did you bring up MFI with your doctor?
I told them I’d be paying through a 3rd party. They told me they no longer used a 3rd party because they’ve had problems with payment but she would look into it. When I talked to them later they told me they wouldn’t accept payment from MFI and to be careful because it looked like a scam. When I talked to them to make payment I told them a friend would be paying for my surgery & who they needed to talk to. After my surgery at my first post op she said that was the 3rd party who paid wasn’t it? I smiled & said yes it was & she said everything went smoothly with the payment. I was like told ya so =) - How did your doctor feel about MFI?
They thought it was a scam…see above question/answer - Did your doctor have you do anything pre-surgery to help make things easier?
Not really except to quit smoking or cut back drastically even tho’ I was only smoking 1/2 pack a day, not to take certain drugs or OTC meds - Did you do anything pre-surgery that was recommended on the internet or by other women?
No - How big are your implants and what kind are they (saline, silicon, profile, etc)?
Silicone 300 & 350 cc’s, high profile, under the muscle - How were they implanted (over muscle, under, incision type etc)? Why did you choose that method?
Under the muscle. I wanted a more natural look. I didn’t want to have rippling & those type of problems since I am so tiny it wouldn’t have been a good choice - How did you decide how big to go and what type of implants to get?
I got lucky on it being easy to make that decision. My twin sister had gotten a BA over a year before so I pretty much knew but I still did my homework. Altough I couldn’t go as big as she did (400 cc’s) I went as big as my body would let me. - How long after surgery were you in pain?
I don’t remember any pain because my hubby kept me drug up for a week. He followed the Dr’s orders to a T. - Did you need someone to help you with normal tasks after surgery? If so, what did they do?
My husband took a weeks vacation to stay home with me. He did everything I would’ve been doing to take care of the household - Did your doctor have any post-surgery advice that really seemed to help with your recovery and/or scar reduction?
To do massages as frequently as possible no matter how painful it was, take my Vitamin E. The Dr’s office carries all kinds of scar reduction meds but I didn’t use anything but Palmers Cocoa Butter, something I use daily anyway - Did you do anything else post-surgery that really helped with your recovery?
I made sure I didn’t do anything streneous at all. I let my body tell me what I could & couldn’t do. If it was too much don’t do it - How long before you could resume normal activity?
2 weeks I was getting back into my normal routine but it took 4 weeks to be able to really get into heavier things. I’m a Stay AT Home Mom if that tells you anything about my daily tasks - What was your biggest surprise post-surgery?
That I wish I could’ve gotten the size I wanted but the boobs I got fit my body perfectly & they look very natural - How closely did you follow your doctor’s advice?
Pretty much to because I didn’t want ANYTHING to go wrong. Things that could go wrong seem to follow me lol - What did you do to get your home ready for your recovery?
Made sure it was clean so hubby wouldn’t have to come home to it to do so he could take better care of me. Made sure I had my meds, pillows,..readily available - Anything you wish you’d done differently?
Nope, everything went very smoothly - Where there any activities that were surprisingly difficult or painful?
What wasn’t difficult? Just to take a shower, lift a drink, all the small things we take for granted was difficult - Was there anything you did that turned out to be surprisingly helpful?
Staying drugged up for a week lol I don’t remember anything that first week so no memories of pain or anything - How did your first “public appearance” with your new boobs go? Any advice for others?
My first outing was at my 1st post op & I wore a low cut top. I’m a tee shirt type girl & going out like that I was self-conscience the whole day & noticed men looking at me – something I’m NOT used to. So, if you’re not used to wearing more revealing tops heads up on the stares & even feeling self-conscience. - Did you find any sites with really good advice on any part of the implant process?
Yes, implantinfo , it has all kinds of info. I would spend hours on there at a time - Have you had any complications?
Not really complications but my experiences. My left implant when I would bend over felt like it would fall forward but it subsided after a month or so. I also was having problems with my left arm from my shoulder to my fingertips going numb & tingling, felt like it was asleep 24/7. I finally figured out it was because I would sit at the kitchen table & have my arm on the table. My plastic surgeon thought I was having a nerve problem in my armpit & I wanted me to go see my family Dr or Nuerosurgeon asap. I never did. After I thought my arm on the table might be the problem I worked on keeping my arm down & after a month my arm was better. - Anything else you’d like to mention?
Make sure you do your homework on breast augmentation. Don’t wait till it’s about time to have surgery & start reading up on it. It’s a major surgery & nothing to take lightly. Check out a few Dr’s to make sure you’ve picked the right one. I didn’t have to do this since I went to my sister’s post op visits & I had gotten a feel for the Dr, nurses, the whole place so I knew this is the Dr I wanted although I still got info from other Dr’s even tho’ I had chosen one already. Make sure they’re board certified & all that good stuff. This should be an exciting time not one filled with problems post op.

This is not medical advice. This is advice from a woman who has had implant surgery. You should also ask your doctor as every person is different and you can’t be sure tht your situation is the same as anyone elses. If you’ve had surgery and would like to answer these questions, drop me a line, I’d love to include you.
