You can use the Stealth Mode option on the Edit Profile page. It will basically hide your online availability.

Is there anyway to have a girl click on a available for chat link.. then putting her on the online page.. otherwise if I walk away from my screen.. guys still think I am here.
There are lots of times I can not focus on a chat.. but just pop into check messages and read blogs or news.

I LOVE this new “Friends Online” feature…. It does save time to find and chat with ” Friends” who have helped me along my journey !!!

the issue you are discribing, is to do with the way you use the site, there is a manner in which you use it, and you did this or that so that you could do just that- you will find another way to achieve the same end. As a creator of business software, this is something that end users always tell me- that the previous ways allowed them to do this that or the other. Follow up visits to their workplaces tend to show that they find ways of doing the same thing with the new installs

i like all this a lot! there is finally a point to being friends with someone. it used to bug me like hell that being “friends” was seen as important- what possible use did it serve- but now, well thats a lot clearer. the online thing is a bit of a red herring- online may just be – forgotten to log out and is at work LOL, and also, Jason, the idea that someone can chat to many people at once with this chat system is a bit off the pace LOL actually thats good too!

Yeah, we’re aware of the false reporting of people being offline and are working with the vendor to resolve that. It’s the #1 issue right now for chat that we hope to fix ASAP!

i see. well i can understand the ignoring part. but u know my point of view on it. but i think the friends online needs to be a filter option in my friends and then the online now for girls online who arn’t on our friends list. but just my thought. but to me i hope u do have that as a feature down the road. right now it will make it tough for me to meet new girls when not know who isn’t online now or not that isn’t on my friends list. or not know who i would add to me friends list by who is online. that also let me know who was online alot to not on my friend list. not get online one day but then be offline for 4 to 6 days. but girls who are online alot and to me means dedicated to the site and wanting to make goal. just i liked the other way. but having both ways is a good option also. i also think should be a way if a girl or guy isn’t online when chat invite is sent it should tell u that girl isn’t online. in the little window when a girl invites a guy or guy invits a girl who is online and has option to accept or decline. but i think u should have a window like that pop up saying girl or guy isn’t online at this moment. i have talkd with girls who were online and system said in chat they wernt.

The problem with the old way was that girls had zero control, and ended up having to decline or ignore a lot of chat requests which is counter-productive. The ladies don’t want to ignore people. I’m sure that if they could, they would love to talk to everyone. But there’s a mental limit to the number of conversations one person can have at any given time! This way they can control the flow a bit more.

I’m not saying we can’t have both at some point, but we’ll just need a way to make it more manageable without discouraging people from making an attempt to chat.

yeah but then i have to add to find out if they are online. the old way girls not on my friends list who were online. i was able to start chating with someone new. this feature now just doesn’t give me that option. i like how the friends is seperate so i don’t have to go hunt where my friends are if they are online or not. but i liked know what girls not on my friends list were online and able to chat.
i like have both options. i prefer the old way more.

Andy, you can still accomplish this by adding some girls to your friends list. It just make the friends list feature that much more powerful and meaningful other than just a way push girls to the top of the Most Friendly list.

i like the added feature. but i like the online now one better. cause it allowed me to chat with new girls i normally would not have had the chance to talk with. so i like it better the way before. but that is my opinion.
